A grief companion

Grief is not a problem. It's a relationship that reorganizes.

We can miss someone deeply and still have moments of relief. We can believe they are in a better place and still wish they were here. We can laugh at a memory one day and be undone by it the next. WithYou was created to make room for all of that.

It is a grief companion built around that idea, that the relationship does not end, it changes shape. WithYou helps people feel what they are feeling without believing they have to stay there forever. Sometimes that means a grounding practice. Sometimes it means responding to a reflection prompt. Sometimes it means capturing a memory before you are afraid you will lose it.

WithYou does not ask people to move on. Moving on asks the relationship to end. Reorganizing just asks it to change.

Moving forward gives you permission to carry something WithYou.

The memories. The lessons. The love. The relationship. Even parts of the ache.

Learning to live inside a life that changed

Grief changes us because the life we had with that person has changed. We may have to learn how to make one cup of coffee instead of two. Make a decision without calling Mom. Love a parent with dementia who is still Dad, but no longer feels like the Dad we once knew.

Those moments may look small from the outside. They are where much of grieving actually happens.

WithYou was built from the belief that comfort matters, and that comfort alone is not always enough. There are moments in grief when we simply need someone to sit with us. There are also moments when we need help discovering what to do next. Not a giant next step. One small movement. Because learning that we can take the next step begins to restore confidence in a life that loss may have made feel unfamiliar.

WithYou helps people practice living in that unfamiliar life while preserving what matters. Memories can be captured and kept. Practices can help someone navigate difficult moments. Reflection can help a person understand what they are feeling rather than shutting it down.

Over time, the goal is not to stop missing someone. It is to be able to say: I miss them. Sometimes I am still sad. And I can allow myself to feel that sadness without my whole world coming to a halt.

With time, a memory that once brought only heartache may also bring warmth, gratitude, laughter, or joy. The memory did not disappear. We simply learned to carry it differently.

That is what WithYou was built to help people do.

A therapist, and a life spent sitting with grief

WithYou was created by Monica Simon, PhD, LMFT, who has spent more than 20 years with people inside loss, anticipatory grief, and the long work of learning to live afterward.

The practices and clinical framework inside WithYou were shaped with input from clinical advisors, including clinical psychologists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. They are grounded in established grief research, including the Dual Process Model of grief and the continuing bonds framework. That means WithYou is designed to make room for both the pain of loss and the ordinary work of daily living, without treating either one as the more advanced state.

WithYou was not built only from clinical training. It was built from years of sitting with grief in my own life, alongside the years I have spent sitting with it in the lives of the people I have worked with. The practices inside this app are the ones I have watched help, and in some cases the ones I have needed myself.

WithYou is a companion, not a therapist, and it is never a replacement for professional care. It is built to sit beside the other support a person has, or to be there in the hours the other support cannot cover.

Two lines we will not cross

WithYou will not recreate the person you lost. It will not simulate their voice, generate messages as if they were still writing to you, or perform a version of them from their photos or texts. Your memory of them was built in real years of real life together, and it is not something we are willing to overwrite with a version we made up.

WithYou will not put the hard nights behind a paywall. Talking through grief, keeping memories, and getting through a difficult moment are free, tonight and every night, for as long as you need them.

Grief asks people to survive the unsurvivable. WithYou is one small place built to help, without asking anything of you that you cannot give.

You do not have to carry tonight alone.

Nothing to schedule, nothing to prepare. Start wherever you are.
